Prakash B Nayak, B Tech in Electronics & Telecommunication and Post-Graduation in Electronics Design Technology from Indian Institute of Science Bangalore. He had cleared Indian Engineering Service and worked @ Information and Broadcasting Ministry, Government of India for a short period of 1year. He has overall 38 years of service in the Power and Automation industry. He worked close to 32 years @ ABB in various capacities and his last responsibility was President, Power Systems, ABB Ltd., i.e. before he took Voluntary exit. He served as head of Business units and Business areas of Power Automation, Power System group. He has served as Managing Director of ABB Global Industries and Services Limited i.e. from Jan 2006 till June 2009 thus heading Corporate Research, Global Engineering and Global Sourcing and Global Manufacturing etc. During mid 2009, he was appointed as Division Manager/President of ABB Power Systems and was also Head of Power System Automation.
He was part of Power System Global Management team of and also part of Global Management team of Power System Automation; he was head of Smart Grid for India. He was also part of Local Country Management Committee. He took early retirement to start his own Company PEnA Power Engineering and Automation (P) Limited, focusing on Renewable Power and Power Automation as the world offers lots of challenges and opportunities in terms of technology adaptation and also competence build up. Besides the above he is the Chairman of Power Panel at IET (Institute of Engineering and Technology UK former IEE, UK) India. He was Chairman of South Asia IET network from 2013 to 2015. He is Fellow of Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET UK) and Chartered Engineer (IET UK). He is continuing as spokesman of IET on Power, Smart grid, Cyber Security and Technical education. He has written many Articles in News (Print and Digital) media on Power, Automation, Smart Grid and Renewables. He has been part of IETs “IOT Congress” 2016 and 2017 in Bangalore and was chairing the Manufacturing track, this conference was sponsored by Ministry of Information Technology and Communication, Government of India. He was also part of the IEEE Industry connect initiative on Low Voltage DC( LVDC) Technology as the emerging technology due to its inherent advantage in energy efficiency, in Homes, Commercial Buildings, Data Centers, and DC in Microgrids. He is the chair the working group on LVDC in Microgrid. He has been Core member of ISGF (India Smart Grid Forum which is Public and private initiative of Ministry of Power, Government of India) and was heading the Work group on Renewables and Microgrid.
He is certified by Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (Government of India) as Chartered Engineer and is involved in the technical approval of development of Utility based and roof based large solar power plants, assessing wind plants etc.
