Jayant Krishna is the Executive Director & Chief Operating Officer, National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). Most part of Jayant’s industry experience of 30 years was with the Tata Group. He spent 22 years with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), where he has held various key positions, including Director - Life Sciences and Healthcare (Europe); Regional Director (UK & Ireland); Regional Manager (London); Global Delivery Centre Head (India); Management Consultant and Global Relationship Manager. Jayant has also handled some of Tata Group’s key HR, CSR and Communications initiatives.
As a part of Jayant’s European responsibilities, he handled GlaxoSmithKline-UK, Roche-Switzerland, Novartis Pharma AG-Switzerland, Novo Nordisk-Denmark and National Health Service / British Telecom Global Services-UK accounts. Earlier, during his responsibilities in UK & Ireland, he was instrumental in establishing TCS’ relationship with several global clients including British Airways, Virgin Atlantic Airways, P&O Ferries, Maersk, DHL, Thomas Cook, IMP-Sweden, Warner Bros, Sony and Avis Europe.
Jayant has a rich experience in consulting, skill development, software delivery operations, sales, software engineering, project management and manufacturing. He has also worked in areas such as strategy & corporate planning as well as HR. For 5 years, He had also worked as a Business Consultant in the Management Consultancy Group Tata Sons Limited’s division and delivered multiple projects for Governments and assignments funded by World Bank, UNICEF and other agencies. Jayant has led several e-governance projects at TCS for Government of India and several state governments. Development of the transformational Indian Passport Sewa Project also took place at a facility headed by Jayant.
Earlier, Jayant had also worked as the CEO of NSDC on secondment. Prior to this, Jayant had championed apprenticeship reforms in India, and played a pivotal role in the shaping of the Apprentices (Amendment) Act, 2014. He was actively involved with the Ministry of Labour & Employment and Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India, in implementation of reforms, and has served as the Chairman of its Special Task Force on Apprenticeship Rationalization. Representing the industry. He also served as a Member on its Special Committee on the optimization of Sector Skills Councils (SSCs). Jayant chairs the India@75 Taskforce on Skills & Entrepreneurship.
Jayant has earlier been Member of the Governing Body of NSDA, Member of Project Steering Committee for India –EU Skills Development and Official Delegate for WorldSkills India.
